I just left my first negative on Yahoo for a deadbeat buyer. I relisted and "paid" a second time, though it's just "funny money". I did try to find out if Yahoo has the same policy of issuing refunds for nonpayment that ebay does. But I couldn't find anything about it. Does Yahoo do that?

Yahoo USED TO mention the refund...I no longer can find ANY reference to it! It may ONLY show up on your manage page AFTER you ESCALATE the problem... I really don't know for sure!
"As part of our continued efforts to improve the Yahoo! Auctions community, we've created the following process to discourage winning bidders from failing to complete transactions. Bidders should be aware that placing bids and failing to complete the resulting transactions could result in the suspension or termination of their account.
If sellers encounter non-paying bidders, they should complete this process:
Within three days of the auction close date, contact the bidder to arrange payment.
Within 7 to 45 days of the auction close date, complete the Non-Paying Bidder form located on the closed auction page. Yahoo! Auctions will then send a message to you and the bidder.
In the next ten days after filing the Non-Paying form, contact the bidder again and try to work things out.
Ten days after the form is filed and up to 60 days after the auction close date, if there is no resolution, visit the closed auction page and escalate your complaint.
Next, rate the bidder and blacklist them if appropriate.
Or, if the problem is resolved, visit the closed auction page to cancel your complaint."

Yahoo did refund the listing fee for non paying bidder. I had a couple of deadbid bidders, I filed complaint & after 10 days I escalate my complaint.

Keziak
Guess what! I just finished escalating a bunch of complaints for deadbeats on yahoo. I was INSTANTLY refunded the list fee (.20c).
Go to the original auction (deadbeat).
In the winner's list find "File Complaint for Non-payment". Click and fill out. I usually put that I left several reminders. no response from buyer and hit send.
If it took - you'll received an automated email from yahoo.
The catch - you should not delete the auction but you can resubmit the item (if you are comfortable doing this). Sometimes I've had buyers pay right after I file a complaint.
You'll have to wait 10 days before you can do the next step. So keep track.
In 10 days - go back to winner's list and click on "View/Cancel/Escalate Complaint"
Click Escalate. You're done!
Check your account - you'll see instant refund.
Hope this helps.
Ps - I get on average 5 deadbeats a month. What do you average? I wonder how bad it is sometimes with respect to the deadbeats.

Thanks for the information on how to deal with the deadbeats on Yahoo. I have asked several different times on other boards and gotten no where. This is the first time I have posted to this board and I do like what I have been finding so far. Will visit more often in the future. Thanks again for the step by step process.
