I think it's mainly a marketing label attempt for Yahoo's fairly well-laid out "seller's other auctions" list page. You can do a few minor tweaks on it using HTML options but as far as I can tell, the full functionality is built in... a buyer looking at a listing can click either the seller's ID name or "seller's other listings" line further down and be taken to your overall list, which then can be sorted by clicking on the column text labels at the top...
Click on "Title" for example, and the list is sorted alphabetically. This is an option that could be used very effectively were there more buyers and sellers; anyone who lists several very different types of items can put a few code letters at the start of their titles, say "SW" for Star Wars collectibles and "CD" for music CD's, "UC" for used clothes, so the browser could click and see a list with all of each type clustered together.
Frankly, I find this setup much more user-friendly than eBay's "Me" page combined with seller-embedded search HTML. However, there's no particular need to call it an "auction booth"... it's not a "Store" where you can list ongoing classifieds, you have to pay extra for the Store functions and I personally just do Yahoo auctions.
As an aside, I do think I can see the auctions participation suffering yet more with only one tiny text link now on the Yahoo main portal page. Oh well.

The Yahoo user "booth" is where a seller used to be able to design the page almost any way he wanted to....include his business logo, almost any artwork he wanted, and a link to his website....as long as it also included his Yahoo Auction listings and the Yahoo logo somewhere on the page. Some sellers put up very creative, individual booths and linked to it in their Yahoo Auction listings. Yahoo's Microsoft software, PageBuilder (now only available to build Yahoo/Geocities homepages), was the program a seller had to use to build his booth, with the ability to import images and HTML code. NOW about all you can do with a seller "booth" is import a small logo into the header---a HUGE step-down from former booth software.

When I first created "My Booth" way back when, it was touted by Yahoo as their assistance at helping you build your own business by promoting your "own booth". Of course the URL is long and involved and I sure couldn't see me putting it on a business card!
The only thing I find useful about it is I do get to have my "real" business name on the booth. When I signed up with Yahoo I used a non-related ID and since I can't change that without losing my FB I am stuck with it.
I also toggled my booth to "photo" and then coppied that URL into my link in my auctions so if someone were to click on the link they would get an instant "picture gallery". Of course, they can do that just by going to the "see seller other auctions" and clicking on "by photo", but I try and make it as easy as I can for them.
Lastly, IF you are ever graced with the title Premium Seller, you will need one. For some reason it is a requirement.
