I just ran across an auction that states that there is "AN ADDITIONAL "YAHOO" CHARGE OF $1 WILL BE ADDED TO THE FINAL PRICE". I know you can't due that on ebay, but is it allowed on Yahoo?

I've never seen nor heard of this type of charge. Looks like an attempt to charge the buyer for listing and other fees. I do not know if it is specifically prohibited by Yahoo, but I don't think it would be looked upon favorably.

Hi
The thing about Ebay is that they "spell" the "rules" out and there are always many rules to keep up with Ebay's rule I believe was that you couldn't state that X amount of money is for paypal fees. Paypal even backed them up and said not to state a paypal fee as well. I think if it deals with how you pay for auctions then no you can't charge an addt'l fee.

I believe the policy (Ebay) does allow you to charge reasonable shipping and handling fees to the final price of an item, as long as it's disclosed up front. I believe Yahoo follows the same idea. The idea is that sellers are incurring costs for packaging, mailing, handling, gas fees etc.
