Well, I think it's time to start listing on yahoo again. I hadn't necessarily planned to but I just made up my mind that I will. I will still probably list some items on ebay as well, but not as much as I had planned to before the 9/11 crisis and the AFA deal.
How many other sellers are going to have holidays that include yahoo auctions this year?

Hi Janet! AFA is an ebay deal. You can read all about it in the ebay forum, or if you prefer you could go directly to ebay's home page...

Yes, what is Carnby?
I listed a few things on Yahoo about a year ago, and was not really pleased with the results. I am sorry about that because I would like another venue.
Is there anyone on here who sells only on Yahoo and if so, what do you sell, and is there any special tricks to getting bids, etc.

In my opinion Carnaby is simply BidVille with Bells & Whistles added. No bidding other than the few sellers buying stuff. I lot of hope but the same dreary results. Ironically nobidding.com is the name of a former website of the BidVille owner.

nnt, there is another thread right now, entitled 'switching to yahoo' (or something like that) that has some good general hints on it.

Hi CAgrrl & nnt...Carnaby is another auction site that's been up and running since July. And with all due respect to bidsbids, it's not another Bidville. Carnaby has "Max"- about the best bulk loader I've ever used, free picture hosting, wonderful auction templates available, and are currently asking sellers to beta-test a storefront area for fixed price sales. Their plan is to have a dual venue to meet the needs of both auctioneers and fixed price sellers.
It's well planned and has a nice layout. Customer Support is swift to respond with real answers to real questions. They frequent the forums, and join in the fun, but they also moderate the boards and won't permit all the name calling etc.
Sales are slow but steadily rising and I'm satisfied with the response I've gotten there.
Carnaby has a tiered advertising/marketing plan in place and began by running banner ads to attract "buyers" and it seems to be drawing in new folks, my last 5 sales were to newbies, so I'm optimistic.
Currently there are no fees, but they have been very honest and upfront...and FVF will begin in October, I'm not sure if there will be a listing fee or not.
Finally, they also have sweepstakes and monthly prize giveaways...you earn entry points based on browsing, listing and bidding, so that gives buyers an additional incentive. Others may disagree with me, but I think shifting my listings between Yahoo and Carnaby will come close to giving me the same sales results I "could" have expected from ebay if not for the A4A.
