I know there are at least a few people that post here that are big fans of Yahoo's Bulk Loader. After playing around with it for a few days I have to admit I'm liking it myself. It seems it will be quicker for me that Seller's Manager.

One question I had - I was hoping to upload a zip file that contained all the scans I wanted, rather than load each individual scan. It appears to me that you're supposed to be able to that, but each time I try to the only jpg file that uploads is the first one in the zip file. I've unzipped the file that I zipped and everything I zipped is available, so I'm not sure why this is happening. I was hoping to just save all scans each day into one folder and then zip them all - that would be a HUGE timesaver for me.

Any ideas or suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks.

I do bulk load the exact way that you are attempting. I zip my .jpg files into one zip file and upload at once. Are you naming your zip file - "yauctions_batch"? I am not sure that it is required for a zip file, but I know it must be the name of your .csv file to load. I have always used this name and have not had a problem. I have never tried another name.

By the way, I am assuming that you checked to make sure that your zip file contains all of the .jpg files.

Hi Stave,

I wasn't naming my zip file by that name so I will give that a try. Never even thought of that.

I did unzip the file that I had zipped just to make sure everything looked OK, and all my files unzipped fine so I don't think that is the issue. I'll try re-naming my zip file and see what happens.

Thanks.

Well, after some staring at my screen I figured it out. Stave, it was your mention of the filename 'yauctions_batch' that triggered it for me. The first jpg I had uploaded did not have any spaces in them, but the second third had spaces in the file name, and WinZip uploaded them with a '_' where the space was. Apparently WinZip does not like spaces. As soon as I deleted the spaces, the jpg's uploaded just fine.

Thanks for your help! It is always appreciated.

I've never tried doing it in a zip file.

I have all my images on my webhosting account, and include the full URL in the bulk loader file.

When Yahoo processes the Bulk Loader file, it goes out to my website and pulls down the images it needs. This way I don't have to upload the images at all (Since I have them on my own website anyway).

If you don't have a website or anywhere to host your files, then the zip file method is probably the way to go.
