I am trying to find out who has taken my eBay user ID and registered it on Yahoo. (I am not Wedgewood on either Yahoo or eBay, but I do have an unusual eBay user ID with a very high postivie feedback rating.) With all the problems eBay is having I decided to register on Yahoo with my eBay user ID, so that it would be easy to re-direct my customers to my Yahoo auctions. Now that my name is taken I will have to come up with something else, but it is most annoying.

My question is: How do I find out info about the seller who is using my former ID?

Yahoo can be confusing at times.

Go to advanced search http://list.auctions.yahoo.com/show/searchoptions?tab=uid and type in the ID in the box and click on search. Then there will be 3 tabs. Click on the one that says About Me. It might show their state there. That's about all you can find out. Also, check the tab that says Auctions to see if they are running any.

Wedgewood,

Yahoo user IDs are used not only on their auction, but on all the rest of their site. They also merged with geocities quite awhile back, and those user IDs (from several years ago) that were "taken" by geocities members are also "taken" on Yahoo.

My ebay ID was also already "taken" when I registered on Yahoo, so I simple chose another. Yahoo won't give out any information about the person who uses the ID you want, other than what's posted publicly on the person's "about me" page or in his/her listings.

Many thanks for the replies. I was hoping there was a User Contact form similar to the one on Ebay, as I would like to contact the person to see if they would relinquish the name.

Sorry for the delay in responding to these messages. This must be my week for having problems. For some reason I couldn't log on unless I went to the main page.

You might also try sending an e-mail to [email protected] (of course replacing "username" with the name you are wanting). If they have taken the name then they have this e-mail account also. Some people do not use the e-mail account but a lot do...might be worth a try.
