VM: thanks for your note...I think I'm in the squirrel's nest portion...
I can't even find pottery and glass...I'd let to spread out the auctions from eBay, but I find it difficult to spend too much time trying to learn a new system.
I think Yahoo! has many fine benefits, and I've been following the message boards for awhile. I listed one item some time ago...not a great experience....thanks for your help...blu

When I get in catagory hell I do a search for the item I am selling and click the auctions that have the most bids and list where they're listed.
Matter of fact you can list right from the other person's auction page. Just click "submit item" and the catagory will already be chosen.
Good luck, here there everywhere!

blu-
I think you'll find that it's worth it in the long run to learn Yahoo. Yes, it will take some time- at least it did for me- but it was time well spent as Yahoo has saved me much in both money and time.
If you specialize in selling certain types of items you will quickly become proficient at listing in those categories. I'm sure you didn't find it completely intuitive when you first listed on Ebay, either- at least I didn't.
One other tip would be to shop a bit on Yahoo, & especially to browse the categories you sell in . That will help familiarize you with the category structure & also you will see what your competitors are up to. Helpful info in my opinion.
There are so many reasons to list on Yahoo. With Yahoo it is possible to list an item & have it sold in under an hour. Not impossible on Ebay if you don't mind ending an auction early, but improbable. Plus the listings on Yahoo are free, they have a free integrated payment service, & a loyal customer base.
Please don't give up without giving it a fair chance!

Thanks for your insights...funny how easy it is to become a little too complacent, even when I'm becoming more uncomfortable with eBay...thanks again...blu

Great Minds - your suggestion about how you locate a category, is exactly what I do when I am not sure where to post an item; or am searching for a second location for posting. I run a search for a similar item and then check where the items with the most bids are listed.
The categories on Yahoo leave a great deal to be desired, but can't complain about FREE!
