Does Yahoo Auctions have a separate category for books? I sell computer books and information. The only book categories that I can find are under Antiques and Business Books. After searching the categories list I can't for the life of me find an appropriate category. I hope I'm just overlooking the right category(s). Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

most would list there computer books in the compter categories.

stamp books in the stamp categories and glass colector price guides in the glass categories.

if these are vintage books on any subject then they would be listed in antiques.

craft books would be listed in the craft categories.

this way the people turely most interested in a book on these subjects will come upon these bookls of there interest in the categories they look at most.

note some categorys offer a sub cat of suplys like stap collectors suplys this would be a good place for a stamp guide or books

dman3:

Thanks for the help. The problem I'm running into is that there are several subcategories under computers. For example: I sell a guide on upgrading CPU's and motherboards. Under CPU's and motherboards there are several subcategories each.

To ensure that all potential bidders looking under motherboards or CPU's see my listing, I would need to place about 10 or so different listings for the same item. I have no problem doing this, but Yahoo auctions won't allow me to use the same title for more than one auction (in separate categories). What this means is that I have to write a different title for all 10 auctions (for the same item). This is very difficult to do.

They really need a separate books category under computers. Oh well, I guess I'll just deal with it.

From what I have read on these boards, Yahoo pretty much ignores emails and suggestions.

Anyway, thanks for your input.

Books are under Arts & Entertainment.
Subcategories include computer, text, reference, Science & technical, business and so on.

Click the sub-cat you want from this page
http://list.auctions.yahoo.com/21600-category.html?alocale=1us
From the page chosen click "submit item" & your listing will automatically go in that category.

As far as listing it 10 times, "Multiple listings for the same item by the same seller is considered SPAM." That is why exact titles are blocked, spam is a TOS violation and may result in your Yahoo account being deleted. Last line of each submit item page (in red) "Please post only one listing in only one category for a given item." Hundreds of sellers were violating this rule and that is the main reason everyone is now limited to 1000 ads per month. Sellers who do not spam are pretty angry about that and have been actively seeking out spammers to report them.

Now that you've found the book categoty tree, you surely can understand the suggestion to post your books somewhere else, if possible. Computer book do have their own category, so if that's all you have to sell, you are in luck.
