Thanks to VeryModern and the WONDERFUL selling idea (1st BID WINS!) I am beginning to sell on Yahoo and I am really enjoying the experience!

My question is:
I have been refering to my Ebay feedback in my Yahoo! Ads until I got some feedback here. Now I have 6 feedback.

I was wondering if you guys think that I should take the reference to Ebay feedback out of my ads and at what point?

Thanks! Yahoooooooo!

PS Does Yahoo pick up in the fall and spring like Ebay does?

labbie - thanks for the mention.

On the fb, I left reference to my ebay fb (not a link - just my user name) in my Yahoo auctions for a long time. For people just coming over from Ebay it is probably reassuring to be able to go check your status in the forum they are familiar with.

It depends to some extent how high your fb is on ebay, but if it is over 100 (ebay) I would reference it until you had at least 50 fb on Yahoo. Why not, it can't hurt. I mentioned my ebay fb (500) until I had over 200 on Yahoo. When I started with 2 extra id's I just linked my Yahoo fb.

I never ever even mentioned ebay on my Yahoo auctions from the day 1 when I started at 0 feedback and I've done just fine.

I bet grapey. That's because you put up a first rate professional looking auction and it is obvious that you're no beginner.

I never referenced my Ebay feedback either & have done fine. I have different ID's at the 2 sites. I did buy a few things early on at Yahoo to boost my FB a little. It couldn't hurt to reference your feedback.

I didn't reference my Ebay feedback only because I was mistakenly paranoid at the time. I kept reading stories about all the nut cases at Yahoo who are just out to damage sellers' reputations by bidding & leaving negs. I figured that if someone trashed me at Yahoo at least they wouldn't know where to find me on Ebay, so I never mentioned anything about selling on Ebay or my ID on Ebay.

Now I have fantastic FB on Yahoo & don't see the need to reference my Ebay feedback, but I now also realize that I was rather silly in making the decision not to reference it in the beginning. I have found that my Yahoo customers are for the most part sane & responsible people. Furthermore when I shop Yahoo I have seen very few "Damaged" feedback profiles. The ones I have seen were easy to pick out- for the most part you can just tell when negative feedback was left by a blithering idiot.

Hey thanks VM and Grapey. I have 1 for and one against.

Oh had to edit because CAgrrl came in while I was typing.

I really appreciate everyone's insights. You haven't steered me wrong yet! Thanks...

labbie1,

I never referenced my eBay FB when coming to Yahoo. I don't think it has much impact one way or the other. Some people like to know you had good feedback on there, and then, others who may have been burned on there by bad sellers associate with that problem also.

One probably cancels out the other, as far as impacting your sales. Personally, if you reference it, after getting only 15-20 positives I would drop it. To make sure those you may be losing because of a bad experiance on eBay, you won't lose on Yahoo too, because they are suspicious of prior eBay sellers, especially ones who have moved.

P.S. Yahoo always picks up in the fall, all the way through spring. Then starts to slow as the weather gets warmer, just before summer, through summer until the end of summer vacations. Then recycles.

mint4you I never thought about the fact that some people had bad experiences at Ebay and that just the mention of the word could impact negatively. Thanks for the thought.

Sounds like Yahoo runs along the same lines as Ebay as far as "hot" selling times. (sorry to keep using Ebay as my standard, but that is where I started.)

gem10a1 I agree that Yahoo is making many changes and for the better! I looked into Yahoo during the "Only a dollar" fiasco and was less than impressed at that time, but I must say that this time around, I am VERY impressed, and more and more of my items are going to Yahoo now.

VM has turned me into a Yahooaphile!

Of course, finding Auction Tamer to help me with the e-mails and book work and other auction management was a BIG help as well!

OOps--wrong smiley...
