Lately, I'm doing all of my bidding on Ebay, even though I always check Amazon and Yahoo! first. I used to buy alot here!!!
What happened???
Well, if I had to make a guess, I would say "UNWANTED CHANGES" :
Neighborhood Watch - being abused by sellers to cut down on competitors
Limiting auto relists to two times - sellers taking items to ebay if they don't find someone in two or three weeks
Credit Card verification - sure, it may cut down on deadbeats, but who really needs the bother? Deal your DB's the old fashioned way NEG THEM !
Seller "Rewards"???? - cutting seller listings - I think some of my favorite sellers have been "rewarded" right over to ebay. At least with their good stuff
You had a great site Yahoo! But if it gets any worse, I won't even bother to look here
anymore, I'll head right over to ebay

Excepting the lack of order, I think Yahoo is better than ever.
Lots more to choose from and more sellers actually SELLING, not listing items at ridiculous prices hoping for a dummy to stumble by. There are good buys all over Yahoo these days, but I do wish that the non-credit card folks who have supported the sellers all this time could bid 'em.

"Neighborhood Watch - being abused by sellers to cut down on competitors"
This is not true. Yahoo! Customer Care has the final word on all of the NW submissions. If someone is making NW submissions unjustly, they will be dealt with by CC. You can NOT "cut down on competitors". Try that, and you will be cut down by CC.

Things appear a little slow on E-bay also! At least I am still getting a 60 to 70% sales of items I list!
On Yahoo 0% bids, since the 17 of September and that was by a deadbeat who bid on seven items!!
Page views on Yahoo are about one tenth of what I am getting on E-bay!
I just browsed the photos only section to see if my items that end in 2 hours show up and went through six pages of 80 plus and gave up!
I have not posted a lot and leaving auto resubmit do the work, since it is a free site!
PAYDIRECT and FREE are the only things going for it right now!

VM--your words gave some encouragement--have just listed about 6 auctions again (Whoa!!)---most with First Bid Wins. Will try again. Deadbeats are a small minority for me on any venue I use. Sure there were a few on Yahoo--but this is par the course--right?
Wanna believe in Yahoo---yes!

Yahoo is working for me. Since the first of October, I've listed 15 auctions and sold 8 of them, two with multiple bids (the others were First Bid Wins). I've also purchased three items and had one of them delivered already.
On eBay, on the other hand, I've listed 20 auctions in that time frame and sold three, one of which I am afraid will end up as an NPB. No purchases.
So I will continue to Yahoo!

jeanyu- you have reason to be optimistic. I saw a drastic decline in sales when all the new things hit and was acutlly (*me* - VeryModernYahooaphile) threatening to give up on Yahoo and said so on the boards. I gave it one last gipper type push and am happy to report that *someone* is still out there buying.
It is tough all over (retail too!)- "listing" is not enough, you have to be compelling.
Like grapey says "TRY TRY TRY" and then she puts a gif.

VeryModern - I don't sell, so I realize our viewpoints might differ. I agree with you about the lack of order, but I have found that a number of sellers who I met here have moved some or most of their stuff to ebay. That bothers me alot.
Credit card verification was annoying, but it won't stop too many from purchasing here, I expect.
------
CharlieOne - read the recent posts regarding NW - I think it is Sellers abusing the system
and not the bidders
-----
From my own experience, I bought at least 5 items every month from January to July on Yahoo! My high was 22 in June, from 4 different sellers. Since July - ZERO -
I'm still looking, but not finding!

whereistheprophet - some of the sellers moved back in full or in part to ebay and others moved in full or in part from ebay.
I do not think that Yahoo has suffered the loss of a significant number of listings, although I am sure that sales have been down last few weeks.
Like most people, I have things I search and the selection is much improved over 6 months ago (I can find something I want as opposed to dismal, dismal, dismal and pathetic with prices that make me cry from laughing so hard).
More current, what I can see now is that Paydirect is gaining steam and this is really going to be a boon for Yahoo sellers.
As much as I hate the disorder, (ick, ick, ick) I am committed to Yahoo and so will do as the Romans (oh yeah, I am a Roman) and try to improve my sell through to improve my position and kick a&& through Christmas, my fave time of the year. I will be hoping all the while that I wake up and have it put back the way it was, but the way I see it, I win either way.

Well Im another who sales have gone very wrong for on yahoo and I have move some Items to ebay not selling fast there but items are moveing I still have no bids 42 days and counting.
Im not giveing up on yahoo at all dureing this slow time I will work on my listing skills and stuff I beleave over time this will all work out over time but I havent notice this change in the works yet I spent another day surffing yahoo listing and find less then 25 bids in many catagories with thousands of listing.
My brother sells on yahoo as well as I do for him there has been 0 sales for september and none this month so far and he sold near $3000 worth last year at this time.
to go from $3000 to $0 is definately a notable drop off.
I dont know what else to do no matter what I list it takes as long as 5 days to get one veiw this was never the case before the credit card verification at least I was getting bid and veiws even after the listing were scrambled.
Just needed to edit to say I have even added my email link for those with out CC to email with bids this worked for a bit but Im not getting email bids either just email from people who want to buy bits and peice of complete sets.

I have noticed NO bids lately, and before the changes Yahoo was more active than Ebay at times---now 2 bids in a week . The mixed up listings are a nightmare. CC for customers is a cutting down on customers for sure.

Again VeryModern: I agree with you - since the changes, our dead beat radio has dramatically dropped, and our sales have gone up, and payment is coming in much faster...we are very pleased.

My sales were very slow in September. Things have started to pick up now. I hope it keeps going!

Except for an occasional "cluster" of bids, mine are dead as a doornail.
And my list of auction winners who haven't paid keeps growing (even though I take every kind of payment you can think of). Not a good sign.
I don't think Yahoo INTENDS to change the default listing order back to "ending time". It's not something that will take a long time to do. Somebody's being stubborn (probably because the new listing order was HIS IDEA, and he won't admit he's wrong).
Wonder how the bidding is on ebay........

I have sold to 5 new to me bidders in last 3 weeks
All have paid, when I enter item/s I have a fairly good idea of what should sell and which may take up to 5 listings to sell.
Yahoo is the site for me
Never had one problem in 15 months

NOTHING I have listed in Yahoo has been bid on in over 4 weeks, and EVERYTHING except one or two items have went for higher than expected on EBAY...why would I want to use YAHOO? I have given it a shot for about two months with very little success. Bidders are rare, lookers are rare, does it improve at Holiday time? I sure hope so...I will try again, sooner or later...only because it is free.
