I just noticed that on the Profile Page for the seller they now show closed auctions! Only those with bids! Now you can see the FB, "live" auctions, closed auctions and about me all from the profile page. Neat Uh?
I like it because now IF anyone bothers to check on the closed auctions they will see what you have sold EVEN if you are not left FB! Since I don't get left FB all that often, this will help show I do sell things (at least sometimes)!

Saw that - however haven't checked yet. Remember when ebay did that and it showed a closed auctio AND RESERVE. Hope Yahoo didn't do that - since if you relist - they already know the reserve......and that would be BAD...off to check!

There is also a link to the sellers closed auction on every auction page. Right under "Current auctions", is "Closed auctions.

Wow! History clear back to July!
I wonder if you can go in and relist from this page.. Or if this is an indication of how long an auction stays in the system.

Pretty neat alright. You can even browse the list by pix only.
Now somebody can easily verify what some of us have been saying about the folly of the auction process. All you need to do is look at something I sold 1st Bid WINS for $7.50 and go over to ePay and search for it in their closed auctions list. You will likely see half a dozen of the same item without bidders at any price..all the way down to $1.00 asking.
So the score:
Me on Yahoo: $7.50
ePay: $1.50 (6 listing fees without buyers)
ePay sellers: -$0.25

I really have racked my brain to think of any real benefit to Sellers for this feature.
Negatives for it? I’ve got several!

Yea, I can think of several negatives too. It's an invasion of privacy and what good is it to the buyer either?
But I've gotten used to Yahoo new features that are negative. It's really the norm for the past year. And since so many good suggestions posted here have been ignored, maybe we should come up with new ideas to screw things up further and post them here...maybe they would ignore that as well...

I don't like it either. A week or two would be one thing but clear back to July is invasive. I was mostly horrified when I saw my own record. 4 pages of auctions under one id and it make me so queasy, I did not bother to check my other names. A little too much holding on to the past for my taste, and will not help sales in any way.

A big negative to me is buyers comparison shopping against your own record. Lets say you sold an item for XXXXX, months ago. Today you want to sell the same item for more, because either they went up in value, or your cost increased.
A potential buyer will search your closed file looking for comparisons. They may not bid at all figuring you are price gouging them. Or, just sit back waiting until you drop the price back down to the previously sold one.
During their wait, they find another seller, or lose interest in the item altogether. Lots of negatives to this feature. No benefits I can possibly think of for sellers. If I want to look a previously sold item, I can do that very easily with the auction number in my records.

buyers can do this on ebay by doing a search by seller. it only goes back 30 days, but it's been there forever. what's the big deal?

The 'deal' is how far you can go back. It may save all auctions from July 1, into the future. It will impact your ability to get any more than you got in the past.
Need another negative about this? If you had a real loser messing with you in the past in your feedabck file, he/she will now have a forever link to that auction. This is NOT good. The auctions use to disappear after a time limit, and were no longer accessable for these deadbeats.

It sure shows those wonderful precipitous sales drop offs with all the great new features of 8/28.
