Keep trying-it took me a while to learn to load on Yahoo, but it's worth the effort. I've also discovered that Yahoo sometimes has brain farts-nothing works. You just have to keep trying until the air clears!

Bearmom -- thanks for the reply, but there doesn't seem to be anything to learn. Perhaps that's my point. You either browse for the photo on your hard disk (the method I chose), or you do the html code if it's sitting somewhere on the internet (haven't tried that yet).
My photos are NOT too large, as the error message says.
I can't figure out what I COULD be doing wrong. So repeating what I'm already doing (and the only thing I know how to do) doesn't make any sense UNLESS that part of yahoo is down or something, which was one of my questions.

I understand what you are saying-the point is that sometimes yahoo will tell you that even if the pictures ARE fine.

Okay, bearmom. So *bear* with me and tell me this -- when you upload your pix when you're getting ready to list, are they supposed to show up on that same page after you've clicked UPLOAD PHOTO? Over on the right, near the top, there are two little bars. One says photo, the other says remove. What, if anything, are these?

Hi CleverGirl,
Sorry to jump in, but I know that the picture will *not* show up in the upload screen. Just continue back to your auction screen and it should be there.
Don't know how to explain your other problem with sizing tho.
Every time I see your ID, I think of Jurassic Park. Just before the hunter guy gets attacked by the raptor, he says "Clever Girl".

When you upload photos it will show at your upper right of the monitor screen. First you click "Browse" find your photo, double click on it, then click "Add". The box where you first saw the photo text will go blank when it uploads. It will then show in your upper right of the monitor, in their number Yahoo! assigns to it. Then if you want to add another photo do the same thing, up to three photos. Once you see the three photos as text numbers, (assigned by Yahoo!), then just hit the button that says "Done". And you will go back to the full page auction for finishing.

Eeeeuuw. Cough, cough, spit. Ptooey, ptooey.
OTOH..... hmmmmm.
I didn't see the movie. I read the book. Hated it, absolutely hated it, but couldn't put it down, which made me hate it all the more. LOL.

Anyway, thanks, you guys. I finally bit the bullet and decided to try the image hosting route, and it seems to be working fine. I was doing it exactly right, so I can only assume Yahoo doesn't like my particular version of .jpg's, but once PhotoPoint has them, they taste just fine. Okay by me, just as long as I know the score.

CleverGirl, if you do not upload a pic to Yahoo you will not get a thumbnail. I personally think this is death to your auctions, here is why.
I have a cable hookup and would never shop any other manner but "show pics only" because a page loads in 10 seconds and it is pleasant and efficient. In my case, your auction would not even be visible, it would not exist.
More people get fast access everyday, but the thing with Yahoo specifically is that it is not the land of Internet newbies, but of seasoned users so the odds a Yahoo buyer has fast access in very high. Get that pic uploaded to yahoo if as far as I am concerned you have a piece of a half of a chance.

Anyway, I just went and looked at the photos only option. I personally don't like it a bit, and it has nothing to do with load time. BUT, what I found out is that when you sort the listings, featured auctions get sorted too -- IOW, the advantage of featured auctions disappears. What a bummer. Ya'll talked me into featured auctions, and as soon as someone sorts in what I think is the LOGICAL way (time ending), or for that matter ANY sort, the advantage of featured auctions is nil. Again, what a bummer.
I also used the browse method today and was able to upload a picture. So apparently Yahoo is buggy as all get out.

Yes, I mean that if you do not upload a photo to Yahoo itself, your auction will not be shown to anyone who selects "show pics only".
