How have your sales been this week (11-06 thru 11/11)? For us, this is the first time in months that we have had a slow week, just checking to see if it was us or a slower buying phase?

on yahoo from 11/6 to 11/11 windows shopping picked up no sales.

on ebay 11/6 to 11/11 picked up 8 bids windows shopping there is strong too .

Buyer are out there for sure but they are being very selective i am noriceing as I surf the auctions there is a load of bidding for new items with low prices and manufaturer warentees like watches and cameras

also the toys area and video games areas are booming with everyone placeing bids for $500 to $1500 on sony play stations no wonder bids are down the econmy is still fair but its a lots tighter then it was last year.

My sales have actually picked up this week-however, I have listed so much, trying to get rid of it before I move, that it's not really a fair comparison, percentage wise!

Between Oct 15 and Nov 7 I had a total of 24 sales equally distributed throughout that time peroid. Since Nov 7 I have had NO sales.

Approx. 80 items listed as 1st Bid Wins and a number of the items are inventory I have in duplicate which accounted for many of the 24 sales and were being purchased as Holiday gifts.

I've become accustomed to uneven sales but I do expect the election has lessened the time people are spending surfing the auction listings.

It's strange that your sales are down, because my new book sales are up lately. I've sold 26 (out of about 260+ listings) since the 6th---not as good as it was a year ago, but much better than it's been for most of the last six months or more, I think.

I had hoped the listing order would revert back to "time ending" by now, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen, and it's now or never for Christmas sales listings.

Dismal!
Ebay sales are only slightly better...I've never seen it this slow in my 3 years of selling except maybe dead of summer. Then again I think it was better in summer...

you said it, Kerry'd- dismal is the word here, too.

Granee, I WISH they would de-scramble. I could just cry with frustration.

I'm experimenting with new strategies to try to pick things up a bit. I am DETERMINED to make Yahoo work because Ebay is just unbelievably on my nerves.

My sales dropped to almost nothing when the changes started...though I had absolutely no problems with any bids (deadbeats, etc.) Then they slowly, very slowly, started increasing a bit. At the beginning of November, they dropped considerably. In addition, since the beginning of November I have had 2 deadbeats, a bidder that didn't learn to read until after the auction closed, a bounced check, and a fraudulent PayPal payment. At this rate, I'll be out of business by Christmas. Maybe it's time to take a look at E-bay.

well going to ebay certainly won't be any better, having sold on ebay for the last 4 yrs....i have just branched to yahoo, which is awful...but at least i am not being charged, then to amazon to try to make some $ on books....I HAVE NOT SEEN IT THIS BAD IN 4 YEARS, I SEE ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVING TO GET FULL TIME JOBS; i have a january ultimatium by my family that if things don't pick up it is out to find a 40 hr week job working for someone else...very frightening

We are still doing well but we are very diversified. If we were only selling what we were selling two years ago, or even last year we would also be very slow. Selling across 6 or 8 catagiories has big advantages. This way something is always getting bites. I make an extreme effort to keep putting new wood on the each fire. Each catagory I try to give a shot in the arm in the form of fresh stock at least every 10 days.

I don't think I'm in your league. This is a hobby for me. So "great!" for me would probably be "I'm starving!" to a full-timer.

Having said that, I agree that diversifying has really helped, though in my case it's using multiple venues for the same basic product (second-hand books). I now have an ongoing presence in Yahoo, ebay, half.com, and Amazon Marketplace. Yesterday I had to enlist the husband to help me get all the outgoing packages to the post office!

Yahoo is poky for me, but it's always a pleasure to make the occasional sale. The customers have been nice. I seem to have one possible deadbeat at the moment, but otherwise everyone has paid.

People are using the 'buy now' alot. Every day when I sign on there is another lot of payments I didn't see the day before. So I'm really happy. Happy enough that I am moving everything I have to offer because I have regular bidders and most all have paid quickly.

I am really learning a lot over there. It is so much more peaceful

I am basically saying this because ebaY sales have been dismal. Worst I've ever seen.

Sales are a bit slower, but then not waiting for checks and just getting yahoo direct, i don't see the all of a sudden invoicing, it's just sort of every day a few to do..
I do think people are slowing down on the buying frenzy, but agree with Very Modern, you have to diversify...
I have a bit into every type of thing.
But I am selling down years of collecting, to be collecting, so I'm not putting tons of newbie things up all the time.
I do know that what goes around comes around and eventually somebody sees the item and goes for it...
It's who's looking at that moment. Not supply and demand..

I would like to know where to find this BUY NOW, as I recently switched over to Yahoo from Ebay, as I was going broke on Ebay with things not selling and still paying fees. Yahoo I'm not paying fees but still not selling. I have 17 auctions and no bids at this time, sure could use some help here.

Thanks

it was pretty good for me at that time...
I get repeat customers

I try to contact the auction buyers about the latest items at the e-mail list related groups... you just have to find the right list.
