Senior Java Developer

Full time Senior Software Developer with solid programming and relational databases knowledge and experience. You will work on features and services for the Vendio and Dealio web sites.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Development team to implement web-based applications for the Vendio sites
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Web Design teams to define user-driven features and services
  • Design and code applications from conception to launch
  • Contribute to application and site architecture
  • Verify and actively drive application quality and performance
  • Support Customer Service and QA teams by quickly providing solutions for bugs
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies and trends on the web
Mandatory Skills:
  • Strong software development skills
  • Excellent with Data Structures and Algorithms
  • Excellent in web development
  • Java EE programming
  • Experience in working with MySQL
  • BSc degree in Computer Science or related field

Web Designer

Vendio is looking for a creative, driven and fun loving Web Designer to work in conjunction with our cross-functional Product Team. You will be primarily responsible for innovative user experiences through enriched development of online products. The candidate should be a fast-paced thinker and go-getter who can hit the ground running!

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Design and fabricate web-based applications from conception to launch
  • Collaborate on design concepts and participate in design reviews
  • Quickly create and iterate mockups based on product requirements and feedback
  • Quickly take mockups / comps and build production ready CSS driven pages to defined specifications incorporating cross browser rendering, performance and display issues
  • Design user interfaces for web applications
  • Produce and optimize image assets such as icons and marketing graphics
  • Support marketing by creating HTML emails, landing pages and banners
  • Support development and QA teams by quickly providing solutions for usability bugs
  • Conduct and monitor code releases to various Web properties
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies and trends on the web
Mandatory Skills:
  • Solid knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, WordPress and Smarty templates
  • Strong creative skills that can be translated into highly appealing designs
  • Solid understanding of layout, typography and color
  • Proficient with hand coding table-less Web layouts using DIV tags
  • JavaScript and server side scripting experience (PHP, JSP)
  • Strong digital imaging skills using Adobe Photoshop
  • Cognizant of user-centered design practices
  • Well organized with clear, effective communication skills
  • Able to handle multiple projects with high attention to detail in a timely manner
  • Online portfolio with current examples of work
Optional/Pluses:
  • Experience at a high traffic consumer site
  • Selling or buying experience on eBay, Amazon or other social shopping sites
  • Experience with release and source control software (CVS, SVN, Git or Mercurial)
  • Web tools proficiency: AJAX, RSS, XML-RPC, Blogs, APIs and Mashups
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices
