Dealio.com Predicts Record-Breaking Traffic For Cyber Monday — Lower Conversion Rates but More Dollars Spent

Fueled by the strong demand for deals in this still tough economy, Dealio.com experiences unprecedented Black Friday traffic and predicts Cyber Monday performance.

SAN MATEO, CA, November 30, 2009 — Dealio.com, the leading comparison shopping, coupons and deals website, experienced a 250% increase in traffic this Black Friday and predicts that Cyber Monday 2009 will result in a record-breaking number of online shoppers seeking deals. However, Dealio is forecasting that fewer of these shoppers will convert into buyers. In analyzing thousands of Black Friday transactions, Dealio has uncovered a silver lining: those who do convert will spend more than in previous years. The increased cart values and higher projected traffic will offset the lower conversion rates and result in a record Cyber Monday 2009, despite the recession.

Dealio.com is one of the first shopping sites to cater specifically to Cyber Monday deals. The site has worked with retailers to secure exclusive deals for shoppers. Dealio also has a dedicated team of deal hunters that scour the Web finding the very best sales for online shoppers. Cyber Monday has quickly grown from being a blip after Black Friday into a huge online shopping day that now dwarfs Black Friday for online shopping. For the last three years Dealio has been tracking Black Friday sales and Cyber Monday deals. Dealio has seen Cyber Monday weekend traffic increase 120% from 2007 to 2008 and a 250% growth rate for Black Friday traffic from 2008 to 2009. "People still want the fun and discovery of finding great deals on Black Friday. However, they don't want to get out of bed from their tryptophan hangovers and fight the hordes to do so", said Michael Levit, EVP of Marketing for Dealio. "E-tailers are responding to their customers by providing better and better deals for Cyber Monday, making it easier for shoppers to find what they want from the comfort of home. Deals once held for after Christmas are now making their debuts on Cyber Monday." With a projected 1.5 million people who will visit Dealio.com looking for coupons this month alone, the site is well positioned to forecast the e-tail winners and losers this holiday season. Retailers that are employing incentives and coupons coupled with social marketing programs are seeing the greatest success.

Dealio predicts the Cyber Monday retailers driving the most sales from deals:

  1. Amazon
  2. Macy's
  3. Best Buy
  4. Apple Store
  5. Overstock
