Got mine last week. I took most of the money out through the debit card, though, because I, too, do not trust that company. I would also like to add my voice to those who agree that the demise of PayPal should be our highest priority. Organizations engaging in criminal activity, such as PayPal, should not be allowed to continue. When a company, in violation of their user agreement, ties up thousands of dollars in assets, then confiscates these assets from honest customers, such a company becomes no different that the thieves from whom they claim to protect you.

The primary problem with PayPal is that they do not have any respect for their customers. This leads them to take actions that others would consider abhorrent, like freezing accounts and then refusing to resolve the problem for weeks or months, depriving the owner of his business and lively-hood; or withdrawing money from bank accounts without permission, possibly causing checks to bounce, or depriving the owner of needed mortgage payments. It is this disrespect for the property rights of others, for which they must be punished and terminated.

This problem also leads them to invite fraud into their system, by allowing new users to use credit cards for payments, before any definitive identification is presented. Thieves who steal entire lists of credit cards, can open a new account for each one, and then combine the money into single accounts with thousands of dollars which they then use to spread throughout the PayPal system. PayPal, without regard to their honest users, seeks out such funds and reverses the charges, down the line, through multiple transactions, leaving every merchant in the wake, without recourse. This makes PayPal money as worthless as those who designed the system. It simply has to go, and the people involved should be prosecuted for fraud, because PayPal has become just that -- a fraud.

Sincerely,

RatCat

Well RatCat,I'm sure glad someone is listening. This fight has just begun.Companys like X.Com, Pay Pal and there are others.Don't belong anywhere near other peoples money.I truly believe they are getting poised to Bilk the entire system for Billions. If we make enough noise, maybe others that have been hurt by these companys Will Finally WAKE UP and Do something.I for one am not Going to let these Scam artists ruin My Business. The next step is file a complaint to the FTC and if enough of us do this maybe we can BEAT THEM. It Will be a Struggle for sure. Some people Just don't get it. Ants

I have been waiting for my $3,800.00 check since November 18th - and so far nothing but promises. First they told me it was mailed on the 1st, then they said the 8th - then they claimed the 13th or 14th and now they are stating there was a GLITCH and it didn't go out till the 18th or 19th. It is not the 24th and I still have no money!!

I really doubt they even mailed them!!

Then on Thursday I contacted them and stood on hold over an hour to speak to a superviser. Finally they put me through and told me that if I faxed them a wire form that they could have the money in my account by Thursday afternoon or Friday at the latest. Well....I "trekked" out in the snow with 2 children to the nearest Staples to fax all of the information - it cost me 6 bucks besides, and still no money!!

I even called them back on Friday to make sure the form went through and again they gave me 2 different stories - first that they put them all though in the afternoon and the second that it was done at 9:30 am Pacific time and all I had to do was wait now. They SWORE to me that it was done. So now my mortgage payment is going to be late, and my car payment and it has been a really slim Christmas for the kids - all because this company is lying and won't give me my money! It really makes me sick!!!

I did, however get the email of a SUPERVISER in customer service. Maybe if nothing else we can fill up her mailbox over the holiday so she will get a nice big present when she returns from her holiday. Maybe then she will be just as annoyed as all of us who are still waiting for our money!!

Her email is: [email protected]

Who knows, maybe she will even help you...stranger things have happened!

I just got off the phone with my bank (yes, they provide live service even on Sunday). They are putting a block on my account to stop PayPal access. PayPal tried to deduct funds via ACH from my account without my authorization. I have done some research (that I should have done before I signed up with PayPal) and am astounded at the volume and severity of complaints that I have located just searching for an hour or two. Somebody needs to stop these kind of unscrupulous people. They have obviously positioned themselves carefully outside of most of the consumer protection laws, and are managing to tie up large amounts of other people's money, fraudulently, while they collect income on that money. They are even soliciting money for deposit in a "money market fund" in a manner that sidesteps all SEC protections. Take a look at their "requirements" now to get the much touted $5.00 signup reward. I wonder how many million dollars they are improperly holding on to, to earn them income. This is fraud of the worst kind.

I have filed a complaint with the Attorney Generals Office in Phoenix, AZ against Paypal and against a particular merchant who defrauded me and the transaction was completed using Paypal. Paypal ignored all of my buyer protection claims, three of them. In an effort (though futile) to get one's money back after being defrauded by a merchant and using Paypal to pay the merchant, Paypal supposedly allows you to file a buyer protection claim where they are to refund you should you experience fraud by a merchant. THis particular merchant, Bargaintown who sells on Ebay and Yahoo, and has their own website, Bargaintown.com, had defrauded many, many victims. Paypal ignored my BPCs and when I finally yelled and screamed at them, did they finally address my last claim only to shallowly tell me in an email that they were not refunding me my money because the merchant Bargaintown stated that they sent me the product. As a result my checking account-VIsa card has been closed by my bank because of all the confusion and many NSF and Overdraft fees imposed because after my bank finally gave me a credit on my account, Paypal went back in and re-charged the money again to my account even after I had told them that they do not have authorization to do this! Who is the FBI agent working on the case against PAyal? THere are also many complaints pending against Bargaintown with the Arizona ATtorney General's OFfice - Gail Thackeray. Please contact me at [email protected] if you have any information or you require information. Very pissed off!

Hi kimisland,

I am sorry to hear of your troubles (as I don't know the particulars of your case), but the Buyer Protection Program has very specific guidelines as to how we protect (and what) and how the recovery process works.

For example, if they seller took the money and there were no recoverable funds, we would pursue legal action (if possible) for recovery and would reimburse impacted users. What is the Buyer Complaint Process?
PayPal's Buyer Complaint Process helps protect PayPal members when a merchant does not deliver goods as promised. If you have been unable to resolve a dispute with a seller, you may file a Buyer Complaint Form (go to the Security Center link in the footer of any PayPal page) to initiate an investigation. PayPal will investigate your complaint and attempt to recover any funds you are owed. You will be entitled to the return of any funds PayPal is able to collect on your behalf. However, fund recovery is not guaranteed.

Additionally, buyers who qualify for eBay's insurance policy (currently limited to $200) may recover up to an additional $200 of protection from PayPal if their purchase was made from a verified PayPal seller.

Please review the Consumer Protections section of our Terms of Use to learn more about the policy (including the policy regarding payments made before 11/10/00). You may also view our Buyer Complaint Process for more information.

Paypaladmn: Why don't you go back under the rock you crawled out from? You can't possibly stand here and expect us to listen to a single sound out of your wordhole. Your company is nothing but a bunch of criminals and I can't wait until you are all locked up for conspiracy to commit fraud at the very least.

I really enjoy how you come here and completely ignore the other people who are out funds or who have gone out of their way, through the snow, to cater to your companies demands only to find more lies and deceit.

This doesn’t even say anything to the $795 of MINE that you have locked up. I will get it back. Mark my words. That $795 is going to cost you a whole lot more. You’re going to wish I never signed up for your service, as I already do.

www.PaypalWarning.com : I’m personally sponsoring 1,000,000 banner adds each week until my funds are free + expenses.

crispyme,

1. It is against the CG's to create a new I.D. while the other is on suspension.

2. It is against the CG's to include any personal information in a post which includes auction I.D.'s and real life names.

3. You may include your own email address in your sig line.

I have to suspend your posting privileges for the above violations.

Please don't post this same thing again. If there is something you don't understand, we will be happy to try and explain again.

And exactly where does one find this:
"Please review the Consumer Protections section of our Terms of Use to learn more about the policy (including the policy regarding payments made before 11/10/00)."
I don't sea any reference to it in your "Terms of Use".

Paypaldamon,

Maybe you can help me. Back in February I had a transaction through Paypal where I was defrauded out of $900. Paypal did an investigation to no avail other than to inform me that the person who defradued me had an account balance of $0. This takes 45 days?

Anyway, Paypal customer service infoms me they will not confirm cancellation or suspension of this person's account and will not give out any contact info on the individual except to a "legal entity".

I wrote them a nasty e-mail back regarding their "harboring of criminals" and requesting what defines a legal entity so I can pursue collection on my own.

In the mean time I've cancelled my account and requested everyone I referred to do the same...can I still have my lawyer or some other qualified representaive call and get contact info so I can pursue collection or my own?

Thanks,

Aric Streeter

Hi AricStreeter,

Thanks for the post.

Yes, it would require a subpoena to get personal information off of someone's account. This is done to protect the privacy of all users, regardless of the circumstances involved.

Our Buyer Complaint Process will attempt to recover the funds, but there is no guarantee that we will be able to. In addition, recovery may have to go through legal means and that could further delay any chance at recovery.

As a reminder, users do need to use some caution when sending money to another party for a purchase and I would advise them to ask additional questions on larger ticket items.

Sorry to hear of your troubles.

Paypaldamon,

Thanks for your quick reply. I wish the rest of Paypal was as quick - I mean come on, 45 days to send me a form letter about not being able to recover my funds?

Anyway, how would I have my lawyer submit a subpoena to Paypal? he's actively working on my case, but we need the account info. Could you give me phone numbers and addresses?

Also, why would Paypal not suspend someone's account who obviously commits fraud? This guy's account is not frozen to my knowledge and I'm concerned about others getting roped in to his deceitful business practice - Paypal is leaving the door wide open! Surely protecting consumers is more important than a few bucks commision on a transaction!

Thanks,

Aric Streeter

Hi AricStreeter,

Yes, your lawyer can send a subpoena.

Policy is to restrict accounts that are engaged in fraudulent activity, but we are not going to advise users of someone else's account standing for privacy reasons.

Hi, Aric. Hope you received my last email. When you receive a response from someone on here from Paypal, they are specifically assigned to monitor these sites so they can attempt to contradict and throw off the viewers and patrons of this site. Their whole intention is to tell you to contact Paypal so you can go through another 30-45 days of hell just to be further humiliated by Paypal by being told your claim is denied or canceled. That is their job to watch these sites to deceive the patrons into thinking that Paypal really cares when in fact they are just attempting to bs us in order that they report back to their hierarchy to advise what the public is doing and their reactions to the continuall rip-offs by Paypal. Paypal knows that there are people being defrauded by them and merchants who use their sites to defraud innocent victims. Paypal is only interested in their pocket books as they still have nearly $750 of my money. I have been forced to take other legal action now. When I complained I was ignored and sent harassing emails by their staff to taunt me telling me my account had been re-opened and unsuspended when really they just wanted me to go there to see that it was permanently "locked up" because I complained about my money being taken from me. How can they in all honesty feel good about the many people the continue to defraud. I too thought paypal was a wonderful site and even gave them a 3rd chance, but they are not loyal nor are they legal to their patrons and engage in punishing and taunting clients when they complain. Anyone with a valid complaint about being ripped off by Paypal please contact me via email listed above. Blessings.

No one from Paypal is allowed to contact me unless my money is being refunded immediately. Otherwise do not contact me, anyone from Paypal with, i.e., pretentions of being a concerned citizen damaged by Paypal, or trying to tell me to file this and file that with Paypal; it does not work. They seem to love to hurt people who complain to them and then they send out their so-called damage control to monitor these type sites and further insult our intelligence.
