[/b]mivona[/b] YEA London!! and YEA Mivona!! Keep up the good work. Hey, turn up your computer speakers all the way so you can hear my clapping for you!! I would love to see some press coverage in the U.S..

Ebay may be uninterested in this problem of their bidders being so blantently ripped off by these scam artists but throw a little negative publicity their way and and I bet Meg will be listening to complaints about the box sellers!!

Here is the info. on the box auction that ended on Feb. 2nd for $381.00.

The auction was blasted by Ebay about 12 hours after it ended, so it will not show up.

Auction Title: "Playstation 2 PS 2 mint condition box, NR!"

Auction # 1210686912
Seller ID: [email protected]

An interesting thing too..in the description, the seller wanted a money order payment sent OVERNIGHT so that he could get their BOX a so called "rare item" to them ASAP! Description also stated "This is what people want, enough said" & that there were two games included, but seller would tell you what they were after the auction ended.

Red flags everywhere, but to the person in the mode of thinking they are bidding on a Playstation CONSOLE, it sounds wonderful!

Definately a case of buyer beware!

Would love to hear from the seller on this! Please do join in at anytime.

Well, I hate to post and run...but I'm up to my ears in packaging materials!

I can't answer for mivona, I can only guess that she is doing what she needs to do to be able to look herself in the mirror every day. I can respect that.
IMHO, I think that's the point of this thread. We all need to do what we need to do. Some people have blind faith and bid on empty boxes. Some people get pyhsically ill when they hear about what their peers are doing. Some take action. Some get carried away trying to prove a point. When innocent people get hurt, it is time to pull back on the reins. Everyone has a different definition of what that means. Shouldn't we all respect each others decisions without passing judgement? Apparently, some people need to take advantage of innocence. Personally, yes, someone is spamming my high bidders with lies ~ interfering with my ability to earn an income ~ about 17 violations at this time. I'm not permitted to correspond with them anymore otherwise I can't press the harassment charges. (but, of course, I know that roxanne is out there lurking so at least I'm not lonely). People are so clever ~ it's a shame that they use it to hurt rather than help. Can you imagine what all of this energy could accomplish if it were put towards a good cause?

Rosiebud,

FYI, I am not bidding using fake IDs - that has been adequately taken care of by someone else.

I do not think that providing information to bidders in a dispassionate way (either through bid retractions (which I have done) or by email) for no personal gain, should be seen as harmful. YMMV.

I would much rather leave it up to Ebay, but they have not proved up to the task, apparently.

This is listed in one of the auctions,

if the bidding goes over 300 dollars I will include either the game ****edit*** or "***edit*** if bidding goes over 350, I will include both, if it reaches 400 dollars, then I will include ***edit***

Do you think if the bidding goes over $700 he might throw in the actual Playstation?

With all this attention being drawn to the box sellers. I hope it is not giving scam artists new ideas to try this in other areas that sell high end electronics.

Ok, now I am REALLY CONFUSED!!!

I report a box auction to Ebay "Playstation 2 Original Box And Receipt -NR".

This morning, I receive an email from Ebay Customer Support, thanking me for taking the time to contact them. The email goes on to say "We have reviewed the information you have sent in, as well as the auction, and determined that the auction falls within our policy guidelines. Therefore, no action has been taken."

I think, WHAT???? and go to have a look at the auction again, only to find it has been cancelled.

So, WHAT IS THE DEAL, EBAY??? Are they, or are they not, misleading listings? How do we find out what their official line is? There seems to be absolutely no consistency here, and I am unclear where you go to get some NON-automated response.

Ideas, anyone?

Rosie: Sorry for getting into this thread so late. "Clergy hearing a confession ~ by law can not divulge who did what to whom to the police or any other agency" Just in case anyone is interested: This is not correct. Clergy can be required to testify in court about criminal matters even if the information they have was obtained during confession or counseling. Trust me on this one folks: It is my job. (Just thought I'd throw that in in case anyone ... well you know. )

You American trend-setters, you!

The Playstation box auctions have now gone TRANSATLANTIC! We have our first, very own, box-seller in Hertfordshire, England!

Let's give a warm welcome to the Unwanted Playstation 2 Original box....

Well, I can't seem to find that one, but looking for it I sure found another one. I have emailed the seller (very nicely, btw) explaining the horror stories that I have heard and want to know if this is for the actual playstation 2 or for JUST the box. Now I wait and see.

OK...I received an answer to my email to this seller...actually two emails....the first one just said "yes" huh?? The second one says "i have heard these stories too, and I can assure your it is for the box." This has 3 days to go and up to $31.00...7 bids (six by the same person)..perhaps the bidders are getting a little smarter? Both bidders and the seller have 0 feedback, of course. My problem? I can't figure out where I emailed Ebay before. I see that the auction from England is now history!

Amazing.. the British may have a go at copying the box auction thing, but they have an interesting way of ending them. Instead of having Ebay cancel them, they must realise the game is up, and end the auctions themselves - cancelling all the bids!

The first one ended because the seller sold it privately (yeah!, right!) and the second one ended because "People have ben misled by the item that is up 4 auction i.e. it is 4 the Playstation 2 box only!" Well, duh! After half of his bidders cancelled on him, the cancelled the other two.

At least it shows a teensy-weensie bit of integrity - not much, but more than the American contingent of box-sellers have displayed.

rosie: "I would stick with the legal ones. I am one of those people who follow the legal routes, no matter what"

I'm sorry to hear that, especially since you seem to have a very narrow/"black and white" definition of "legal" which would tend to preclude you helping people where you could, in fact, legitimately do so. I'm even sorrier on behalf of those who might have been helped by you had you chosen to do so.

The law is NOT black and white. That's why we have courts, lawyers, etc.

I guess we'll just have to "agree to disagree".

Sorry to be delayed in answering your last post, been busy here.

Nanastuff: Trade ya a killer link for all ebay addresses for the auction number you are talking about. Got this from someone at auctionbytes. Email me at [email protected] thanks

http://www.bunnyscorner.com/ebayaddresses.htm

Sorry, Alex it is not in the form of a link.

Napcruz, I admit, I have had no clue what you have been talking about in your posts, but I just went to your auction you listed. GREAT JOB!! We should all create a listing. I think it is a fantastic way to alert bidders who are unaware of what is going on!! Face it, how many newbies are reading the auction fourums and are aware this kind of scam is going on?!!

EVERYONE reading this please go look at Napsruz's auction!

BTW, I hope it is okay to mention this, but the Playstation box scam was mentioned in the Auctionbytes newsletter.

edited for a couple commas, wish the box sellers would do the same!!

cmbtboots -

Thank you so much for the addy link! I was desperately trying to send a time-sensitive email this afternoon, and could I get the bloody thing to go? I was trying different permutations, with and without hyphens, and just couldn't do it. I ended up leaving it while I picked up the kids from school, and then found that the auction had been ended when I got back. Phew!

Hello Everyone,

If you are going to invite new sellers, please send an email to [email protected] with your username and your personal information (name, address, phone).

You must also send an email to the seller, with a link to the CG's and a link to the thread. Starting a new thread would help as a new member would have too many pages to wade through to find their discussion.

If you post any I.D.'s or links in this thread it will have to be locked for the 24 hour time period to give a seller a chance to attend.

Thanks for your cooperation,

Joice
